Stripe Settings Overview

You can access your Stripe settings here. Not all settings should be adjusted, as not all Stripe options are compatible with Lede. Please see below for more information.

Product settings

Payments

  • Checkout and Payment Links: Do not change any settings on this page – Stripe-managed Checkout and Payment links do not sync to the Lede platform.
  • Payment methods; Payment Method Domains: The Lede team will handle the setup of all payment methods which are currently compatible with the Lede platform (Credit Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay). If you are interested in another payment method being available, please submit a support request to help us determine which additional methods to support.
  • Automatic currency conversion: Do not change any settings on this page – they apply to the Stripe-managed Checkout and Payment links which do not sync to the Lede platform.

Billing

  • Billing plans: Do not change any settings on this page – the Lede platform is structured for the selected Invoicing Starter plan.
  • Subscriptions and emails: Below are Lede’s current recommendations for these settings and should not be adjusted unless specifically indicated. If you make changes in any given section, make sure to click the corresponding “Save” button. 
    • Manage free trial messaging: Leave all settings turned off.
    • Prevent failed payments:
      • Set upcoming renewal events to “create an event for upcoming invoices 30 days before a subscription renews”
      • Do not turn on “Send emails about upcoming renewals” (Lede handles sending out annual emails separately from this setting.)
      • Turn on “Send emails about expiring cards”
        • Use a custom link for these emails. The custom link should be the /account page at your domain (e.g. https://DOMAIN.com/account)
    • Manage failed payments:
      • Configure the Retry schedule to “Use custom retry schedule for subscriptions” 
        • Retry 3, 5, and 7 days after the previous attempt. (Adjust this timing as you see fit!)
      • Turn on “Send emails to customers to update failed card payment methods” 
        • Use a custom link for these emails. The custom link should be the /account page at your domain (e.g. https://DOMAIN.com/account)
      • Subscription status: If all retries for a payment fail, “cancel the subscription”
      • Invoice status: If all retries for a payment fail, “leave the invoice past-due”
    • Manage disputed payments:
      • Subscription status: If a dispute is opened, “leave the subscription past-due”
    • Manage payments that require confirmation: Not applicable to the Lede platform.
    • Manage invoices sent to customers: Not applicable to the Lede platform.
    • Manage advanced invoicing features: Not applicable to the Lede platform.
    • Pause payment collection for existing subscriptions: Do not set this up.

Radar

  • Radar Settings: This is for a paid service with Stripe for additional fraud capabilities.

Climate

Data Pipeline

  • Data Pipeline Settings: If you have a separately maintained data warehouse, you may want to review this feature. Else, do not change any settings on this page – the Lede team has a custom analytics offering which you have access to: Lede Beacon.

Business settings

Your business

  • Account details: Ensure all fields are complete and accurate and that your phone number has been verified. As the volume processed on your account increases, Stripe requires more stringent verifications. Ensuring all information is provided on initial setup will ensure no issues for you down the road. 
    • Note: Changing information on this page can require a verification from the account owner (whoever is listed on the “Business details” page below).

  • Account status: Any active requests from Stripe that you need to respond to will appear here.
  • Public details: Ensure your information is accurate. Keep in mind that this information will appear in public-facing places including on invoices and in emails generated by Stripe.

  • Linked external accounts: Use at your own discretion. We cannot guarantee that external accounts are compatible with the Lede platform.
  • External payout accounts and scheduling
    • Add your bank account where you plan to receive your payouts from Stripe.
    • We recommend a Payout schedule of: Automatic every day.

  • Tax details: Ensure your information is accurate and you see a status of “Verified” at the top of the page. See Stripe Automatic Tax Collection for more information about collecting tax via Stripe.
  • Branding: Add your brand elements (icon, logo, brand & accent colors) which display on Invoice PDFs and in Stripe-generated emails.
  • Custom domains: Do not change any settings on this page – they apply to the Stripe-managed Checkout and Customer portal which do not sync to the Lede platform.
  • Customer emails
    • Payments: We recommend that you turn on “Successful payments” and “Refunds”. (Note: this will generate an invoice for every payment, including for renewing monthly subscribers)
    • Ensure your support email is correct (adjust in Public details if not)

Team and security

  • Team: Add or remove team members from your Stripe account. “Require two-step authentication for your team” should always be enabled.
  • Security history: View an audit trail of your Stripe account.
  • Installed apps: Do not install any Stripe Apps from the App Marketplace as they will likely not be compatible with the Lede platform. The connection to the Lede platform is listed under “Connect Extensions” on this page.
  • Authorized Accounts: Do not use – this is only for migration related purposes.

Compliance

  • PCI Compliance: Stripe will notify you when there is an Action to take for your annual PCI Compliance.

Reporting and documents

  • Documents: If Stripe requests any documents from you, you can upload them here.
  • Legacy exports: Generate a QuickBooks export file from your live transaction data.

Stripe beta programs

  • Early access features: Do not use any available beta features as they will likely not yet be compatible with the Lede platform.
