You can offer your products on Lede at a discounted price point in order to drive initial subscription growth – these discounts can be offered to all new users who visit your Products page or only to new users who have a valid coupon code. Lede utilizes Stripe’s coupon functionality for this feature. To get this setup on your site, please review the information below.
You must notify us at least 24 hours in advance of needing your discounted products on your production site to ensure enough time for any clarifying questions we may have to ensure proper setup.
To set up promotional pricing on your site
- File a support ticket with the following information so we can set up your coupon. Please keep in mind that most coupon fields can’t be edited after creation – only name and metadata can be adjusted once a coupon has been created.
- Name (40 character limit)
- This name displays in the Stripe UI and on invoices for customers. Make it descriptive so both you and the customer can easily understand the coupon.
- This field can be changed after the coupon has been added.
- ID (Optional) (200 character limit):
- If you want a discount that only displays if a user has a coupon code, please specify that here. If you want your discount to display to all new users by default, leave this blank.
- The ideal length of a customer-facing coupon code is 8-12 characters
- Further, if you want the coupon code to be a certain word or phrase, please provide that information (IDs are case sensitive).
- IDs may only contain alphanumeric characters (a-z, 0-9) in addition to dash (–) and underscore (_).

Things to be aware of
- Discounts are only available for NEW paying users. Users who modify an existing subscription are not shown any active coupons.
- Discounts are not available on Gift Subscriptions.
- It is possible for multiple coupons to be active at the same time if the coupons:
- apply to different products.
- apply to different intervals of the same product (i.e. a separate coupon for the monthly and annual tiers of the same product).
- apply to different products.
- apply to different intervals of the same product (i.e. a separate coupon for the monthly and annual tiers of the same product).
- Stripe’s minimum charge is $0.50. (Keep in mind that the basic Stripe fee is 2.9% + 0.30.)
- Stripe counts an abandoned cart (i.e. a user does not complete their purchase) as a coupon redemption. For coupons that expire after a specific number of customers have redeemed the coupon (i.e. first 100 customers get this discount), these abandoned carts count against the available coupons.
- If a customer redeems a coupon when paying for their subscription, a new metadata field in SendGrid: “Order Coupon Applied” is set to “true” for that contact.
