How to Use Reusable Blocks (Synced Patterns)

Reusable blocks, now called Synced Patterns, are useful when you want to regularly reuse a particular block with specific styling and other settings or when you want to reuse a specific configuration of blocks.

One of the primary use cases for this feature is for customized newsletter blocks that are placed in posts on a recurring basis.

How to use Reusable Blocks:

1. On a post, add in a new block in the desired location and adjust the block settings per the available options in the right side menu, along with any text in the block itself.
   1. Example: For the newsletter block, you might adjust the CTA text to be more in line with your brand, along with the text and background colors in the block settings menu.

3. On the newly created and configured block, click the 3 vertical dots in the menu that appears and select “Create pattern/reusable block” and enter a name for the block in the field that pops up and click Save.
4. You can now reuse this block on future posts by navigating to the post you’d like to insert your reusable block into and insert it by going to: “+” Toggle block inserter > click the diamond icon (Synced patterns) > select the newly created block from the list.

How to View and Manage All of Your Reusable Blocks

• In your WordPress Admin:
  • Via an individual post’s edit screen > “+” Toggle block inserter > click the diamond icon (Synced patterns) > Manage my patterns
• Via an individual post’s edit screen > “+” Toggle block inserter > click the diamond icon (Synced patterns) > Manage my patterns

Alternative approach to using Reusable Blocks

1. Once you’ve navigated to the Patterns page (per either of the above routes), click on “Add New” to create a new Reusable Block.
2. Click the “+” Toggle block inserter button and select the desired block from the list – most likely the “Newsletter” block under the Lede section.
3. Click on the inserted block and adjust the block settings per the available options in the right side menu, along with any text in the block itself.
4. Click “Publish” to make your block available for reuse.
5. Navigate to the post you’d like to insert your reusable block into and insert it by going to: “+” Toggle block inserter > click the diamond icon (Synced patterns) > select the newly created block from the list.
