A default Featured Image can be set in the Customizer. This image is used in post cards when there is no Featured Image set in a post.

How to Set a Default Featured Image
To set a default featured image, go to Appearance > Customize > Site Identity. Then scroll down to Default Featured Image. Unless you are using square images across your site, we recommend an aspect ratio of 3:2.
